חָשָׁא

חָשָׁא(or חַשָׁא) m. (חוּש, חֲשַׁש; cmp. P. Sm. 139 1) what man has to suffer, predestination, luck.Pl. חָשַׁיָּא or חַשַּׁ׳. Lam. R. to I, 16 דחָשַׁיֵּיה קשיי לינוקי hard fates are in store for my child (Matt. K. quotes a version נחשייה, v. נַחֲשָׁא). Ib. (read:) לא אמרית לך דח׳ קשייא ליה דעל ריגליה חרב בית מקדשא.
